FUNDRAISING Fundraising continues to be a big part of the lives of the members of Omega Squadron. The SAR and Commander Hawkspar both raised money for Breast Cancer Care when they ran the Race for Life in the summer of 2008. In August 2008, Xen Larunna whizzed her way across the River Clyde on a zip-slide to raise money for CLIC Sergeant. She raised £270 in sponsorship, then raised a further £130 selling her handmade jewellery at work. Commander Hawkspar organised Hafla Karimah 2009 and raised £811 for SPLASH - a play scheme for special needs children in the Fife, Perthshire and Angus areas of Scotland The Squadron also continue to support Help for Heroes by sending care packages to British soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. And, as always, we were able to deliver gifts to all the residents of the Redmill Nursing Home near Bathgate, in December There are already plans for people to run Race for Life in 2009, so watch this space!
